Phillips Ambassadors is one of UNC Chapel Hill’s most flexible scholarship programs for undergraduate study abroad in Asia. Founded in 2007 by alumnus Ambassador Earl N. “Phil” Phillips Jr. and his family, the program has supported over 425 students studying, interning, serving, and researching abroad in South, East, and Southeast Asia.

Ambassadors receive a financial award, take part in unique academic retreats with their cohort, and are charged to share their understandings from studying in Asia with their hometown or campus community upon return. Eligible students from all majors apply in two cycles per year. No prior interest in or experience with Asia required.
