10-Year Anniversary Award
Celebrating a decade of scholarship,
service and engagement with Asia
The Phillips Ambassadors Program turned 10 years old in 2007 and has supported 300 undergraduates in their study abroad endeavors in Asia.
To celebrate this 10-year milestone, we offered five $10,000 awards to Phillips Ambassadors alumni in support of further engagement with Asia. The intent of these awards is to generate impactful initiatives related to Asia and to share some aspect of those efforts in one’s community, place of employment, or current place of study.
$10,000 to engage with Asia
Maybe you have a service project in mind, a professional development or entrepreneurial opportunity, or academic research to complete. Wherever you are in the world, we want you to think, reflect and dream about how you would put this award toward further engagement with Asia. Most importantly, we want to know how you would share that experience with your community, be it in the boardroom, the classroom, or on the yoga mat. Be creative. Be impactful.
All Phillips Ambassadors alumni – including Phillips Graduate Ambassadors – are eligible to apply.
Collaborative proposals will be considered.
Applicants should submit the following via email to Phillips Ambassadors Program Manager Janet Walters, email@example.com.
- A two-page summary of your proposal, indicating how your proposed use of the $10,000 award will engage with Asia and will have impact in your community.
- An estimated budget.
- Current resume or CV.
- Name and contact information for two references.
The selection committee will take the following criteria into consideration in selecting award winners:
- Proposal’s relationship to Asia or depth of engagement with Asia.
- Potential to share or amplify the experience with one’s community, place of employment, or current place of study.
- Feasibility of the proposal.
Five winners will be announced on Friday, November 4, 2016, at a celebration in Chapel Hill marking 10 years of the Phillips Ambassadors Program.
Proposals accepted July 1, 2016 – October 1, 2016.
