Apply to the Phillips Ambassadors Program

Qualifications
The Phillips Ambassadors Program is open to UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University undergraduate students across all majors, who are applying for a UNC-approved study abroad academic program located in East Asia, South Asia or Southeast Asia, for fall, spring, summer, academic year or calendar year terms. Students must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 as depicted on official transcript. Graduating seniors are not eligible to apply since one needs to be enrolled and on campus for at least one term after you study abroad to complete your Global Studies class and Give Back.

Phillips Ambassadors are selected based on their high level of academic achievement and commitment to activities, service, and leadership. Strong communication skills and evidence of self-motivation are important. A clear understanding and articulation of how Asia and one’s study abroad experience fit into long-term goals are also taken into account. Additional consideration may be given to students who have not previously studied abroad in Asia and to students applying to programs that incorporate experiential learning and internship opportunities. Some preference may be given to applicants who will be on campus for longer than the required one semester after studying abroad.

Select Phillips Ambassadors applicants will be invited to interview.
