How to Apply

The Phillips Ambassadors Program is open to UNC Chapel Hill  and select Duke University undergraduate students across all majors who are applying for a university-approved study abroad academic program in Asia. Students must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (as depicted on official UNC transcript). Graduating seniors are not eligible to apply. Applications for summer, fall and year-long programs open on December 1 and are typically due in early February. Applications for spring programs open on August 1 and are typically due in mid-September. Please check program brochures for specific details.

Phillips Ambassadors are selected based on their high level of academic achievement and commitment to activities, service, and leadership. Strong communication skills and evidence of self-motivation are important. A clear understanding and articulation of how Asia and one’s study abroad experience fit into long-term goals are also taken into account. Additional consideration may be given to students who have not previously studied abroad in Asia and to students applying to programs that incorporate experiential learning and internship opportunities.

Selected Phillips Ambassadors applicants will be interviewed.
