Phillips Ambassador Callie Brauel Part of a Winning, Entrepreneurial Team
Phillips Ambassador Callie Brauel (Hong Kong '07) and her aBAN on Neglect team took home the top prize at the Carolina Challenge entrepreneurial business-plan competition in March. Callie's aBan team won the John Stedman Social Entrepreneurship Award ($15,000), and the People's Choice Award ($1,000) at the event organized by UNC's Carolina Entrepreneurial Initiative.
The aBan team was selected for their innovative solution to poverty and pollution teaching homeless children in Accra, Ghana to make decorative zipper bags from discarded water bags. The bags are then sold to bring money back into the Accra community.
